This new cask varient of this breweries popular mahogany-coloured beer. Originally made its appearance at the JDW Real Ale Festival March 2016. The beer has a rich, nutty flavour, balanced by a spicy, bittersweet finish, plus a smooth, full-flavoured character throughout.

Brewed with Goldings and Styrian hops.

Cask (handpump) @ The Sir Walter Scott (JDW), Edinburgh Airport - (Airside), Edinburgh, Scotland EH12 9DN. [ As Batemans Dark Lord ].ABV: 4.4%. Clear dark dark red brown color with a average to large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, dark fruit, dark malt, light burnt. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light bitter with a long duration, dark malt, roasted, dark fruit, light chocolate. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat to soft. Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2016. Dark brown in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Aroma of sweetish, dark fruits, molasses and a touch of leafy hop. Flavour had more sweet malts,a touch of toastiness and a moderately bitter finish. Good.

Cask at the David macbeth moir. Pours black, nose is nutty, chocolate, roasted, taste is sweet, toffee, nutty, soap.

Cask @ The Sir Norman Rae, Shipley. Very dark, with a creamy off-white head. Very mild tasting, with some extremely light tasting dark malts, but you wouldn’t call it flavoursome. Nevertheless it’s a very palatable mild.

Cask @ The Lord Moon of the Mall, London. Clear dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, roasted malt, light licorice and light chocolate. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and moderate bitter finish. 230316

Cask handpull at Moon Under Water Leicester Square. Black beer lasting tan head. some liquorice some thick chocolate dark chocolate. Light nuttiness. Really rather enjoyable. Some sweetness a little Nutella fine. OK condition and temp.

Cask at the standing order... Dark black.. Thin tan head... Soft sweet chocolate malts nose.. Soft chocolate roast.. Little thin.. Little licorice

On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - close to opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - toffee and light liquorice. Taste - dry liquorice and toffee again. Palate - close to medium bodied with a dry tangy finish. Overall - quite interesting.
