Bottle from Gedeelde Vreugde. Jet black, quickly thinning, beige head. Aroma of sweetened espresso, toast, chestnut, pecan, fondant, fig, oatmeal. black olive, brandy. Taste has sweetish fig & prune in a thick pecan-nutty, fondant- & oatmeal-like malt body surrounded by umami-earthy black olive and bitter espresso. Herbal & peppery hoppy finish, more dried fruits, bitter coffee and warming brandy-like alcohol. Full body, thin oily-sticky texture, soft carbonation. Very good, just slightly less on point compared to the Stanitsa.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with average, frothy, diminishing, minimally lacing, dark brown head. Roasty, chocolately and minimally nutty, dark malty and caramel malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, couverture, dark toffee, dark caramel, a touch of treacle, whiffs of coffee and chicory. Taste is sweet-ish, chocolately and roasty, minimally spicy, dark and caramel malty, slightly alcoholic, notes of dark chocolate, dark toffee, dark caramel, some coffee, a touch of treacle and chickory; warming, alcoholic finish. Creamy, watery texture, smooth and soft, slightly cloying palate, medium, foamy, mildly prickly carbonation. Rich and intense, a tad boozy - good.

330ml bottle bought at La Velo Brewery in Palma de Mallorca. The oily pour reveals a deep black body under a filmy layer, scattered lacing. Attractive smooth aromas of oily-like chocolate, nicely roasted. Powerful and well blended taste of chocolate, a hint of syrup, coffee, and liquorice. Rounded roasted bitter ending with warmth from the alcohol. Long lived and full bodied. Excellent sipper. (Hotel room, Port de Sóller 16.07.2023).

From a bottle in Le Bièrographe, Toulouse, France. Pours black with small, short-lived tan head. Aroma has roasted malt and soy sauce - not expected but not unpleasant. Flavour is sweet but not cloying and doesn't last long on the palate. Notes of caramel and toasted malt. Has quite a strong sweet and malty flavour initially, but doesn't overpower. Definitely not a dessert beer. Would highly recommend and would drink again, given the opportunity.
