Sample at the Hoppin’ Frog Tasting Room during the "Hoppin' Frog Tasting Room 12th Anniversary" on 06/21/2025. Cloudy reddish-brown color with a thin off-white head that dissipates quickly to a sparse outer ring. Small patches of lace. Vinous aroma of wine along with malt and oak. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky wine, caramel malt, vanilla and dark fruits. The finish is sweet and vinous with a wine and caramel malt aftertaste. Good beer overall.

Runt can! Near clear amber beer, good bubbly pale tan head. Snooth palate, a little viscosity evident but still feels pretty light thanks to good fine carbonation. Great malts, a little creamy sweetness, rich and savoury toffee caramel. Nice estery mid, a little pineapple cubes in there. Fairly modest wine barrel blink-and- you-will-miss-it type of thang! Some spicy alcohol on the smooth finish. These are great fun and please send more of these barrel aged nut jobs to old Blighty. This one could have done with a bit longer in the barrel I think, or a stronger barrel - maybe Port?! Still, great fun!

Mini can from Brew Export. It pours deep reddish - brown with a decent beige head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, juicy, jammy berries, strawberry , fig rolls, jam sandwich, victoria sponge cake, crunchy red wine, vanilla, some umami / savoury vibes, raisin, sultana, some cacao / dark chocolate and some spice. The taste is rich and robust, slick, bitter - sweet character, hefty malt character, loads of dark and dried fruits, raisin, sultana, fig, cranberry, red grape, toasted fruit cake, slightly jammy, brown bread, spice, boozey warmth, light tannin and red wine soaked oak with a jammy and vinous finale. Fulsome body, moderate carbonation and slightly chewy mouth feel. Lovely depth of flavour. Red wine works very well with the hearty base beer.

Can from Tavour. Pours pretty clear dark brown with a moderate tan head. Which didn't last very long. Aromas of wood and red berry dominate. Full bodied. Flavor is wood, red berry and darkish toffee. Not dry. Heat does its best to sub for bitter. Heat isn't all that strong. Very good ale.
