On tap at Jagged Mountain, pours black with a reddish tinge and a medium beige head. Aroma brings out earthy notes, saison yeast and some toasted malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with plenty of earthiness, saison yeast, and some fruitiness. Earthy and dry, with a nice fruity character.

Sampled at the brewery during GABF week. Dark brown, red tint in the light. Dry yeast and some berry in the aroma. Flavor is dry, yeast, black pepper, for some spice.

Draft. A- Spices, wheat, fruity, bubblegum. A- Black color, dark brown liquid, tan head. T- Spices, bubblegum, banana, fruity, wheat, lemon cleaner. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, fruity finish. O- They called this a black saison. It was very similar to a hefe in my book but whatever, that doesn’t mean it’s bad. In fact, it was pretty good. Easy to drink with a lot of spice and bubblegum and banana.

Tap at the brewery - pours a headless dark ruby - looks like a flat glass of root beer - aroma is slighty musky saison yeast, berries, light chocolate - sweet and poorly attenuated - limp and lifeless in the mouth - sweet malt.extract and some peppery phenolics, followed by some estery notes - yea, this is probably the last time I’m coming to this brewery.
