Oldham Beer Festival 2023. Extremely dark but not black. Dark malty with an imposing strength and a notable cask ageing about it, its relaxed aroma with perhaps a hint of chocolate about it is pleasant.

Bottle from Beautiful Beers, Bury St Edmunds. Black pour with a swiftly dissipating tan head. Aromas of raisin, cocoa, light bourbon, dark fruits. Flavours of chocolate raisin, cola, toffee, dark fruits. Sweet malty finish. Not your traditional impy.

Cask at Pigs Ear 2018 - Hackney, London. Day 2. Pours black-brown with a frothy tan head. Nicely rounded, assertive but not aggressive, has some hearty toasted malts, scored earth and baking cocoa, secondary notes of burnt grass. Medium to full bodiednwith fine carbonation; good condition. Lightly warming finish, more ashy roast, some fudge, baking cocoa, sturdy earthy bitterness. Toothy. Very solid.
