On cask at Beer House, Hillsborough - Black with a beige top. Lots of hefty roasted chocolate notes, slightly sweetened by a vanilla bean, burnt toast and black coffee finish. Solid.

27/1/2023. Cask at the 14th Colchester Winter Ale Festival. Pours clear almost black with a small bubbly beige head. Good looking beer. Aroma of vanilla, caramel, butterscotch, chocolate, coffee. Quite sweet, light bitterness. Medium body, smooth, soft carbonation. Nicely done.

Cask @ Beatnikz Republic Bar, Manchester. Black with a thick creamy off-white head. Smoothish with understated roasted malts, hints of chocolate, which makes it flavoursome enough, although expected better in this department.

Cask at Flowerpot, Derby Not sure if the Madagascan is supposed to refer to coffee or vanilla, but there are both of them in the aroma ! Pours almost completely black with a small beige head. Creamy texture in the mouth, and flavour is again dominated by coffee and vanilla with touches of molasses and liquorice. Milky coffee in the finish. Nice enough but not particularly memorable.

On cask at the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - molasses and light roast. Maybe smoke. Taste - smoke this time for sure. Molasses again going into a charcoal liquorice thing. Palate - medium bodied and dry middle and finish. Great length. Overall - has elements of dey stout.
