Huge thanks to Erzengel for sharing! Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass dark brown, almost no head. Intense woody malty aroma, light smokey touch. Starts intense malty, woody, earthy notes. Some berries, some cherries, a lot of alcohol. Dry bitter background. Not bad.

33cl bottle at home on 29th December 2025, after Grimsby Town won against Shrewsbury. Poured into my Gordons thistle shaped glass it looked a little moody; dark brown bodied with a weak tanned head that soon buggered off. Aroma of malts and whiskey, taste also malty and whiskey flavoured. Expected a little more body depth for the ABV and the barrel aging, but it was fine without actually doing much.

Bottle at home. Opaque brown color, average sized beige head. Aroma and flavor are malts, cognac clearly, a bit sweetish notes with a slight hint of raisins, but way less than I expected. Quite nice this one.

33 cl. bottle @ home, gift from Luc.
Clear dark brown with a beige head. Dark caramel aroma with whisky notes and red fruit. Sweet taste with a sweet boozy finish. Bit flat and underwhelming, not up to the usual Gulpener standard.

330mL bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma has a nice, lightly smoky, whiskey barrel character, Belgian yeast, and light esters. Flavour is rather muted: there’s some whiskey barrels, light esters, earthiness, and soft bready notes. The flavours just don’t gel well, and there’s just not much nice here flavour-wise. Rather disappointing.

330mL bottle. Pours brown with a beige head. Dark berries, chewy toffee malts, and a bit of whiskey on the nose. Flavour has a fairly muted yeast expression, chewy dried berries, boozy whiskey finish. Pretty clumsy, not a huge fan.

Caramel, whisky, vanille, hout, redelijk boozy, rozijn, dried fruit, toffee, verrassend zacht. (29-11-2024).

(Draught at Bierlokaal De Uiver, Haarlem, 17 July 2024) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with plums, prunes, caramel, oak wood and whisky. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, dried fruit, raisins, brown sugar, prunes, dates, whisky, oak wood, a faint touch of smoke and a vinous and warming finish with a mild spicy bitterness. Full body, quite sweet. Rich and powerful, still in good balance. Very nice.
