Cask at Anglers Arms, Northumberland. Gold amber colour, white foam head leaving lacing and malty aroma with tangy citrus. Taste is malty, caramel, toffee with some citric notes and earthy bitterness. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry lingering bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Cask, 3.8 % abv, at Haworth Arms. Hazy golden body. Tiny white head leaving spotty lacing behind. Lemony hops on the nose. Fruity taste of peach and lemon. Mild bittersweet tail. Fine bodied for the low abv. Refreshing (shared with Finn, Hull 24.11.2015).

Hoop & Grapes, Nicholsons. Cask. Lightly hazy gold beer, small white head. Palate is airy with mild fine carbonation. The first few mouthfulls are floral with modest lime and citrus. Great start but by the half pint mark, things are getting a little chewy with some apple tang developing. Light finish. Nice enough but lacked the bones to hold it together over a whole pint.

Cask at the local Nicholson’s pub. I enjoyed several pints of this. Pale golden yellow coloured pour with a lasting loose white head. Aroma is nice fruity hop, tropical hop, pollen. Palate is nice and easy going, nice cask condition. Flavour is grainy, little honey, nice tropical fruit new world hops, nice soft fruit, citrus. Very sessionable.

Cask at the Minster Tavern, Ely. Dark gold, hazy, flat. Wonderful aroma: juicy grapefruity hop buoyed up by a resinous hint. The taste starts a bit sour, but turns bittersweet toward the finish. Flat body am bit of a letdown. All in all this is a pretty exciting find from Marston’s.
