Better of the two treatments. Draft, opaque black, creamy beige head. Nose has malt and toast. Coffee grounds and cocoa. Flavors follow. Well rounded. Full bodied but smooth. Feels less then 8.8% 8 8.5 8 8 8

Charlton draught, 3/17/25.
Possibly/probably clear. Very dark. Medium-sized, light tan head, good retention.
Roasty and buttery with strong toasted character and a bit of light fig/prune on the very end. Very dry, maybe rather acidic? Whatever that buttery character is, it sort of helps, but also doesn't really belong. No booze noted.
Grape, licorice, vanilla and strong coffee. I like the rich fruitiness and silky texture. Good depth and very dry. No booze or any sign of whatever the butter in the nose was. Really striking balance of soft and chewy, roasty and fruity, and dry and acidic. Very RIS-like. Why wasn't the barrel blend this well-done?!

Pours a deep brown-black, with mid-sized tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, roasted grain, bread. Flavor largely follows, with a mild sweetness to it. No bitterness. Very smooth mouthfeel.
