Cask at Bexley Beer Fest. Aroma has berries and dark chocolate with black coffee and spice. Murky black. Frothy foamy beige head. Flavourwise we have espresso, charcoal and spice. Light-medium bodied. Slick to oily. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Enjoyable standard Porter.

Cask gravity at Croydon Craft 2016. It pours black with a quickly dissipating tan head. The aroma is earthy, roasted malts, coffee grounds, umami and dark chocolate. The taste is rich roast, bitter - sweet, coffee grounds, chocolate, chewy malt, liquorice with a dry, roasted finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A bit chewy perhaps, but pretty flavoursome.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from Kris Wines. The beer pours rich, deep brown with reddish highlights, and a large, billowing khaki head; the beer is a bit over-carbonated, it should be noted. Lots of chocolatey malts in the nose, some burnt toast, grains, hints of old berries. Light to medium sweet flavor with decent ashy roast, milk chocolate, mellow earthy bitterness, toasted brown bread, slight minerality, leather. Light bodied with high carbonation. Finishes reasonably well balanced, with some further cocoa character, blackberry, faint charred wood, roast, subtle coffee. The excessive carbonation is a little distracting, but beneath it there’s a pretty solid porter. Lots of interesting characteristics in what is, at 4.6%, a relatively light beer. Nicely done.
