Cask at darkest brown with a small light tan head. The nose is bitter - sweet, milk chocolate, earthy roast, creaminess and toast. The taste is smooth, earthy roast, cocoa powder, toasty, coffee, mocha and a touch of chewy malt with a drying finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Soft and easy-going, but a huge amount to it.

Cask at the brewpub. Pours clear brown with reddish accents and a foamy beige head. The nose has some burnt leaves, faint cocoa. Light sweet flavor with earthy bitterness, wake roast, nondeScript cocoa, leaves. Medium bodied, soft. Finishes with more toasty leaves, dried berries, bread. Pretty bland but not offensive.

Cask at the brewpub. Chestnut brown coloured pour with ruby red hues and a lasting loose light tam head. Aroma is dried apple, raisin, coco powder, some nutty grains. Flavour is composed of harsh grain tannin, dried choc powder, tangy apple, slight tart in the finish. Palate is pretty watery and thin with low carbonation, not good condition. I found this beer lacking. No depth.

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Black with a thin off-white head. Easy in the palate, it has a light roasted malt aroma and taste with a dominating sweetness throughout.
