Bottle from the brewery and drunk at home. Black beer with lasting tan head. Some spice on the aroma, some choc and malt. Yes ok malty. Spicy throughout, some sourness even. It’s ok. Some malty chocolate. Spice is just the right level for me.

Cask at the EUSC, Egham, 19/12/14. Light black with a decent tan covering that collapses to spotting and edgework. Nose is a big spice rack effect, aniseed, light char, menthol notes, winter cheer, raisens, dark fruits. Taste comprises treacle toffee, spice, Xmas pudding, cinammon bark, clove, aniseed. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Ok but a little overspiced, half a pint became a chore.

Gravity at the brewery taproom. Pours brown with no head. Nice winter spice aroma, some nutmeg, all spice, notes of toasted bread. Medium sweet flavor with dried fruits, graham cracker, cinnamon, hints of cocoa. Medium bidied with fine carbonation and lightly oily texture. Fairly sweet on the finish with further well toasted bread, spicy cinnamon, fruitcake, brown sugar, slight molasses. The condition could be better but overall it’s quite tasty.
