Bottle from 3at3, Ely. Dark amber, extremely murky. Large, somewhat loose cream/tan head. Incredible yeasty, doughy aroma with vanilla, caramel and a hint of citrus. Somewhat similar to an abbey dubbel. Taste starts sweet and then turns noticeably bitter. Short bittersweet finish. Body is quite watery for a beer of this strength. Carbonation is lovely. This brewery can be hit and miss, but this is tasty.

Draft at Pigs Ear Beer Festival 2013 - London. Pours clear copper with a mild, white foam head. Odd aroma, some leather, wet shoes. Light to medium sweet flavor with leaves, leather and wood. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with notes of wet wood, more leaves, wet dog and old shoes. Meh. Kind of shabby overall.

Pigs Ear. Wooden cask. Clear amber beer, no real head. Palate is light and fairly dry. Astringent wood, dry and a little bitter and pretty woody! Good dried fruits. Touch of caramel. Dry finish. A bit too dry and maybe this one spent too long in it’s wooden cask.
