Bottle. Dark brown, almost black body under a small beige head. Strong aroma of dark malt and coffee. Taste is medium sweet, dark roasted malt, coffee, brown sugar and balanced bitterness. Fine body and quite long aftertaste. Nice, straight forward imp. Stout.

Bottle, 12C. Very dark red with a tan head that's soon a coat. Aroma of stewed fruit, coffee, cracked caramel. But it is roastier upon a taste with coffee, some stewed fruit and firm bitterness coming up pretty soon. Quit sweet but roast and bitterness balance. No overt alcohol. Not a knockout but satisfying.

330ml bottle - Pours a dark brown black colour with an average sized foamy tan head. A rich roasted malt aroma, espresso coffee, liquorice and burnt grain. Medium to heavy sweet taste, roasted malt, burnt sugar, bitter coffee, liquorice and plummy flavours with a semi-drying warming alcohol finish. Very nice end to an evening.

330ml bottle, many thanks to Mark for this. Drunk at home after celebrating mine and blackhaddock's 10,000th beer in the quarry park. Dark appearance, pleasing beige head. Nicely rich character overall, good roast presence, woody with dark chocolate, with some welcome burnt espresso notes. Nicely balanced. Good Imperial Stout.

330ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown colour with late awakening, very small, creamy, fading, minimally lacing, off-white head. Sweet-ish, caramel and dark malty aroma, hints of dried fruit, raisin, plum, some treacle, molasses, dark chocolate, weak marmite overtones. Taste is sweet-ish, roasty dark malty, slightly fruity and minimally yeasty spicy, hints of dark chocolate, dried fruit, raisin, plum, a touch of honey, treacle and molasses, minimally smoky overtones, a cautious marmite touch. Oily texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, soft carbonation. Nothing spectacular, but matured obviously well more than two years after BBE.
