The key to a chocolatey milk stout, in our opinion, is to use Pale Ale, Roast Barley, Black, Crystal and Chocolate Malt, but also to use a fair amount of Munich, which rounds everything out nicely.

Cask @ GBBF 2017. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty caramel and chocolate aroma. Roasted malty milk chocolate and caramel flavor. Has a roasted malty caramel and milk chocolate finish.

[9/3/2018] Draught at Draft House Westbridge in London. Black, creamy tan foam. Roast, coffee, chocolate, olives note, sweetish, slightly sourish, lactose, light to medium-bodied. A bit too sourish but kinda OK.

17/6/2018. Bottle from Inn at Home, Guildford. Pours dark brown with a ruby tint and a small off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, milk chocolate, toffee, hops, fruit, veg and nut. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, average carbonation.

Bottle courtesy of Grumbo, thanks! Clear very deep maroon brown color tan edge head. Earthy chocolate aroma. Taste is chocolate milk in coffee, light body.

Bottle from Inn at Home, Guildford. Nice head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are roast malt, chocolate, lactose sugar, caramel and hops. Sweet finish.

Bottle from Inn at Home, Guildford. Hazy dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt and chocolate. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and roasted moderate bitter finish. 160218

GBBF Day 1. Cask. Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head, Smooth palate, modest fine carbonation. Soft dark malts, some tangy dark chocolate and tangy dark fruits. Smooth finish. Inoffensive but much like a thousand other stouts.

Cask at GBBF�17, day one, 08/08/17. Pitch black with a decent light tan cap. Nose is chocolate, toffee, light dark fruit medley. Taste comprises milk chocolate, lactic nip, hint of sour fruit, light roast, pinch of spice. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying close. Not blowing me away but an adequate sweet stout.

Cask at the GBBF 2017. Day 5. 12/08/2017. A clear nutty brown coloured pour with a halo of tan head. Aroma is seeet nutty malts, tangy apple, brown sugars, woody, little charcoal,. Flavour is of composed of semi sweet, nutty roast, tangy apple, little blackberry. Palate is semi sweet tangy, apple, milky.,

On tap at the Craft Rooms, Lincoln. Black colour with a tan head. Aroma smooth milk chocolate, with coffee, and light fruit. Taste isn’t as sweet as some milk stouts, but roasted bitter and fruity. Medium body.
