Fles 33cl thuis. 10%. IBU 32. Licorice, roasted malts, caramel, maple syrup, redelijk oily, stevig, redelijk bitter, haver, rozijn, donker fruit, flink droog. Geen typische quadrupel. Stout en porter invloeden. (12-2-2021).

Bottle shared. Pours completely black with little head. Aroma is malty, chocolate, maple syrup, caramel. Big body. Flavour is malty and sweet, lots of caramel, Candi sugar, maple syrup, figs, prunes. Finish is bittersweet, chocolate, long. Really nice! Close to a barley wine and imperial stout somewhat, but whatever it is it's a tasty beer. Good quadruple-ish.

Bliksem's interpretation of a Belgian style quadrupel with a very non-Belgian ingredient (maple syrup)... Bottle shared by Craftmember, thanks Vincent. Yellowish beige, cobweb-lacing, mousy, medium thick, slowly opening head on a very dark chocolate brown beer with misty bronze hue. Aroma of hard caramel, toast crust, raisin bread, burnt sugar, fresh bay leaf, sugared tea, liquorice candy, gin or even a vague whiff of juniper berries. Notably dry onset, dried fig, some old raisin but hardly any of the typical Belgian esters I expect from the style, nor any typical dark candi sugar presence - instead, the maple syrup by which it has been replaced here adds a sweetish note throughout, but only subtly so. Full, tad oily body, softish carb; dry and 'hard' caramelly maltiness with a brown-bready spiciness and eventually even bitterish toastiness to it, merging with herbal hop bitterness and boozy, peppery, gin-like alcohol. Lots of spicy aspects linger in the background, varying between bay leaf, nutmeg, liquorice and clove. Complex and rather powerful beer for sure, but way too dry, sleek and 'clean' for a quad - this is clearly heavily influenced by Scotch or even brown porter. Interesting one, though, with quite a distinct personality (like Black Sabbath's band members, I suppose...).

Zwart bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is zoet en licht bitter met iets van chocolade, wat karamel en een vleug koffie.

Creamy tan head left a spotty cover on a near black still body. Chocolate & demerara aroma. Medium bodied, nicely carbonated with a dry clean back. Nutty, liquorice, chocolate, berries, brown sugar & boozy tastes. Nice one!

Huge, ultra dense cream to light tan head, slightly irregular, over near-black beer. Chocolate, blueberries, roast. Dry and sweet smell at the same time, cardboard, oats. Typical burnt/roast stout flavours with stou acidity. Again some fruity notes, much less chocolate. But again the strange dryish cardboard note. Finish is more burnt-bitter, with a hint of coffee. Medium to better bodied, good carbonation, bit slick. Bit light. VERY light for a "quad", whatever that might be.
