Electric Roads is inspired by the iconic warm sound of the Fender Rhodes electric piano. This blend of barrels showcases notes of toffee, molasses, vanilla, raisin, dark chocolate, and figs. The rich toffee tone resonates from the nose all the way through the comforting finish. Electric Roads used multiple double-barrel-aged barleywine threads that boosted the ABV, bolstered the oak character, and rounded out the intensity via additional oxidation from racking one barrel to another.
Blend:
DeJohnette (barrel #123) aged 13 months in Old Fitzgerald barrels and 13 months in E.H. Taylor barrels
DeJohnette (barrel #124) aged 13 months in Old Fitzgerald barrels and 13 months in Eagle Rare barrels
DeJohnette (barrel #132) aged 12 months in Eagle Rare barrels
Bartz (barrel #146) aged 9 months in Elijah Craig barrels and 9 months in Booker's barrels
Hutcherson (barrel #147) aged 7 months in Pappy Van Winkle barrels and 7 months in French Oak Cognac barrels
1/2 Hutcherson, 1/2 Pools (barrel #163) aged 10 months in Pappy Van Winkle barrels and 7 months in Rittenhouse Rye barrels

Caramely malty, syrupy and heavy with toffee, barrel, vanilla, bourbon, oak and hints of sweetness. Quite heavy but complex and balanced, intense barley wine.

Tasting at Ryan's, bottle
Dark brown colour, no head. Aroma of dark sugars, dust, caramel, alcohol. Thick mouthfeel; strong molasses, dark sugars, with some liquorice and tar; trong alcohol burn too.
No elegance here, but it's a very bold beer.

Poured from 1 pint .9 fl oz bottle. Dark brown with minimal beige head. Lots of dark dried fruits, super smooth at that abv, bourbon and the little bit of cognac show through. Nice.
Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8
Chestnut brown, no head. Opaque. On the nose, almonds, sweet barrel, touch of soy sauce. That's kind of the palate, too. Lots of bourbon, sticky sweet malts, toffee sort of sugars, and a bit of heat in the finish. Big, with decent balance.

500ml (thx, Brian S.!) @ Ryan's. Appearance: brown with some beige head. Aroma: loads of bourbon with dark fruits and toffee notes. Taste: along the same lines, quite sweet, lots of raisins and figs. Overall: a nice classic English Barleywine.

[2022-05-27] Flaska från share, b2. Mörk svartbrun, liten beige krona. Kolaremmar, mycket smak från faten, bra hetta och riv i, lite katrinplommon, bränt socker. Mycket gott. [9/4/9/4/17=4,3] [2022-10-08] Flaska från Private Press, b2. Samma som ovan, men petar upp betyget ett snäpp. [9/4/9/4/18=4,4]

Poured from a 500 ml bottle. Aroma is malt forward with tons of toffee, caramel, toasted bread, and burnt sugar notes. Hints of chocolate, roast and treacle. Medium alcohol notes with quite a bit of bourbon character with hints of oak and almond. Pours a rather dark brown with a small, thin, dark tan head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers for a bit. Faint lacing and very long legs. Flavor is very sweet with loads of toffee, caramel, toasted bread, and burnt sugar. Lighter hints of roast and chocolate. Medium high bitterness that lingers a bit in the finish. Hints of raisin and dates. Moderate alcohol notes with light bourbon character. Hints of oak. Mouthfeel is full bodied with low carbonation. Low astringency and medium alcohol warmth. Overall, a really solid BA barleywine. Great malt notes with balanced barrel character. A bit bitter in the finish.
