Nice saltiness, can’t get the pear, but guess it’s Japanese pear so I get it. Perhaps it’s lingering there. Like it though.

Bottle courtesy of George. Excited to finally try some TDM beer! Pours a fairy clear gold with a finger of white foam that dissipates. Lovely pilsner malt foward nose with some light lemon, grain and grassy notes. Faint pear on the palate, with some stone fruit undertones and more toasted pils malt. A slight kiss of salt on the finish. Well done! What I suspect is pils malt works really well with the crisp pear and salt notes.

Bottle from the brewery. A very pale straw gold that makes me think of camomile tea with a bright eggshell white head of foam that quickly dissipated. Light Pilsner type malts with a mild Japanese pear aroma. The taste is light, carbonic, dry, refreshing and a bit salty but much less tart than I expected. The pear does come through nicely in the finish and aftertaste. Now to pair it with a nashi!

From the ratings, I’d guess it is better on tap and in my own experience it took warming up to get much noticeable tartness out of it. Nice enough but I think using juicier more flavorful western pears and a stronger souring agent would kick it up a notch.

From a shared bottle at RBESG 2017 - Grand Tasting. Pours clear pale golden to straw coloured with a small, white head. Fruity aroma with notes of ripe pears and not much else. Mild aroma and not much sourness. Weird gose. [22nd of July 2017]
