Smooth dark roasted and sweet malty, with nice notes of chocolate, coffee roast, brown sugar sprinkle, burnt caramel, medium body with a nice smooth creamy mouthfeel, sweet roasted malty finish. Lovely, could really session this.

Keighley & Worth Valley Railway Beer Festival 2024. Black in colour. Not the most stated of stouts, but getting there with plenty of dark maltiness , sweetish honeycomb dark-malty nose, general aftertaste.

Black beer, thick tan head. Good malty aroma. Flavour follows suit. Toasty malt, a little chocolate, a dash of caramel, a but if a biscuity note. Good body and lasting flavour for something so sessionable.

Cask at Brunswick, Derby. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with minimal tan head. There’s roasted malts and oats in the aroma. Much the same flavour in the mouth where it is slightly sweet and rather thin. Some caramel and dark fruits detectable too. Fruits last into the slightly dry finish. This is reasonable enough but definitely disappointing – I was expecting something with a bit more oomph to it !

Dark reddish brown with minimal head. The aroma is of roasted malt and oats. The mouthfeel is the same, slightly sweet, with caramel and dark fruit. Roasted, dry finish. This is a pretty sensible, creamy nitro stout.

Can from Morrisons. Black body with a thick beige head. Good lacing. Aroma of toast and hazelnut. Flavour of blueberry and earth. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Flavoursome and silky with a lovely berry note. This is very good, and will be a regular feature in my fridge.
