Handpull cask at the Old Horse, Leicester. Ruby brown, clear as a bell, with a cream-coloured, erm... tight head. Light malty notes in the aroma, a bit of berry and sour woody notes. Tastes quite good, it's sweet with a light bitter sourness from the mellow fruity, leafy hop. More berry notes in the aftertaste with a very slight astringency. Soft but by no means absent carbonation. It's basic but pretty good, and in great condition.

GraviCask at Camra’s National Winter Ales Festival. Thanks to fonefan for sharing. Clear amber coloured body with a shade of red. Mid-dry malty nose, hints of nuts. Brown malty flavours, toffee and nuts followed by a short bittersweet tail. Rather thin in the mouth. Okay (The Roundhouse, Derby 19.02.2016).

Cask @ White Swan, Hebden Bridge. Deep copper-red with a creamy head. Has some metallic-malts in its nose, with a more steady malt taste. There’s some hops but it’s very much a bitter in style and taste with a medium bitterness.

8th Feb 2014. Hand-pulled pint in The Church, just around the corner from the Two Towers Brewery in Birmingham (UK), which is where I was going next. Clean reddy brown body with a head that wasn’t tight at all (Rugby type joke). I liked the look of it. The whole brew is dominated by semi-sweet malty molasses, this isn’t a hoppy beer in any way. I’ve a sweet tooth, so I enjoyed my pint. It is however one dimensional with the maltiness hardly being kept in check, a winter time beer to be drank in front of a roaring fire with slippers on.
