Johann van der Walt has travelled to Wadworth Brewery, in Wiltshire, to re-create this light golden pale ale especially for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival. Citrus, mango and pine notes are present in both the aroma and flavour, combining with a refreshing bitterness to create a distinctive, balance character.

Wetherspoon Spring Beer Festival 2018. Cask @ Becketts Bank, Leeds. Golden with a creamy head. It's a creamy-hoppy ale with a mildly dirty nose, but not the most pleasant of citrus tastes.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Deep gold with a thin white head. Grapefruit and lime and light tropical fruit. Bit of pine in the afterburp. It's fine, but doesn't change the fact that I've got bored of this style of beer over the last few years.

Cask-conditioned, on gravity at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2018. Amber in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Some floral hops, citrus fruits, a whiff of pine, biscuity malts and a moderately dry finish. Good.

Pours an almost clear golden amber colour with a small loose white head. Aroma is light pine and citrus with some biscuit malt. Some grainy biscuit malt taste, moderately sweet. Plenty of fruity zesty citrus flavours, grapefruit and lemon with a herby bitterness in the finish.
