Cask at Great Expectations, Reading. Murky light amber with a thin white head. Fruity and bready with a touch of butter. Kind of a sweet apple and blackberry pie thing going on. It’s ok to drink but it’s rather muddled and let down by a lack of condition - so pretty much like all the beers I’ve had from this brewpub then.

Cask at the Great Expectations, Reading. Rather lively - I was told it had only just been put on - a straw colour, slightly hazy, with a thin white head; aroma of orchard fruit; taste of apple and blackberry - quite tart; and a clean bready finish. Not bad.

Cask at the brewpub - Reading. Pours clear yellow-gold with a creamy white head. There’s a little tangy citrus in the nose, wet pale grains, lemon peel, plastic. Light sweet flavor with soggy white bread, husky grains, hay, dough. Light bodied with soft carbonation; not in great condition. Finishes with some buttery dough, white bread, straw, faint grass. Quite poor.
