At Torrside we love the smoked beers of Germany, and it's the sort of flavour that sits well within the very British stout. So we've brewed this stout with smoked malt in place of the usual ale malt, and thrown in healthy amounts of the classic Challenger hop.

Cask at NWAF, Derby, Wednesday 17th February 2016 in the company of Dad and Pauline. Black or is it just V.dark brown, yep brown but with an off white creamy head. Fruity and malty but with a little bit of cocoa in the mouth, though it tends to lean more towards a tartness but with a nice malty edge, quite a smooth beer throughout. Smokiness is present but not as pronounced as the Franconia, like it though.A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Bottle. Beer Stop, Dronfield. Clear, cola brown. Film and some bubbles of lasting, tan head. Nose has savoury, meaty smoke. Chocolate malts. Charred wood. Soft berry fruits. Smells good. Taste is soft, fruity, chocolatey sweet. Some vine fruit tang. Has a wood ash dryness to it. Smooth mouthfeel. Finishes smoky, tangy sweet. Very decent, silky, smoked stout.
