Taster at the Ocean Beach location. Pours a clear, golden color, with a small, rocky, white head. The nose is lemon cream, cloves, menthol, and white sugar. Sweet and phenolic, with a touch of bitterness. Medium body, with a syrupy, slick palate. This is an interesting and quality beer.

Keg at CBC Clerkenwell, London during the Pizza Port tap takeover. Pours clear, dark brown with a tight, creamy yellow-khaki head. Restrained but deep spice aroma, some cinnamon, dark fruits, sugarplums. Medium to big sweet flavor with dark sugars, toast, moderate chocolate, dark fruits, balanced spices. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Moderate heat at the end, with more rich, dark malts, further ripened dark fruits, wintery spices, light cocoa. Incredible balance. I think it’s hard to make a balanced, spiced winter beer, but this one gets everything right.

Keg at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell - Pizza Port Tap Takeover After Party, 22/04/13. Dark chestnut brown with a thin light tan head that retains well. Nose is Xmas pudding, cake mix, dark fruits, dates, raisens, brown sugars, touch of spice, dark malts, aniseed. Taste comprises toffee, biscuits, touch of Belgian yeast, cake mix, prunes, dates, light spice. Full bodied with fine carbonation, light traces of booze in the finish. Overall a decent well structured Belgian strong, no world beater but pretty drinkable and the alcohol is well tempered.

Craft Clerkenwell Pizza Port Tap Takeover. Keg.Clear dark red - amber beer. Tidy cream coloured head. Rich creamy dark malt, not roasty or bitter. Light touch of sweet cinnamon and lesser light spices. Nice creamy feel to this and the spices are not over done.

On tap at Craft Beer Co. Clerkenwell, pours a dark amber brown with a medium tan head. Aroma of Belgian candied sugar, molasses and caramel. Flavour of burnt molasses, some deep dark dried fruits and more burnt cocoa. Very chocolatey Belgian dark full of flavour. Very nice stuff.
