Pint at the Victoria Lincoln. Not a JDW. Dark almost black colour. Not really a the look of a mild. The aroma had that hops and roast mild likeness. Is that a word. The taste was more stout than mild. And very nice it was too.

Cask. Dark, with a beige foamy head. Raisin, chocolate, coffee in the aroma. Lots of malts in the taste, chocolate hints, dark fruits, not much bitterness. Quite good.

Cask @ Picture House JDW, Colwyn Bay [281014]
Black, ruby edges, tan head, nice lacing
Aroma of soft dark malts, soft dark toffee, slight hint of smoke
Taste of dark malts, soft dark toffee, creamy dark malts, touch of coffee, sweet dark malts, dab of candy puff, touch of dark fruits, hint of liquorice, tasty
Palate - Medium body, bit sticky, sweet, smooth. Finish as main flavour, sweet smooth dark malts, dark toffee, nice dark malt sweetness, finding it rather over sweet though
Overall - Although it’s a bit too sweet it’s a good tasty mild /sweet stout

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Brown-black with a large beige head and a prickly fizz. Roasty up front with sweet fake coffee flavours. Bit of burnt plum, bit of blackcurrant. Full of flavour but the fake coffee up front put me off. What is it with me and Batemans? Never like their beers even when everyone else is raving about them.

Cask at the Greyhound (JDW), Maidenhead. A mahogany pour with a purple glint and scummy beige head; fruity aroma with soem chocolate and coffee; thin, with a predominantly coffee taste with some fruit; and a dry finish. A pleasant mild.

Cask at the moon under water jdw, Watford. Dark mahogany brown / dark red coloured pour with a lasting light tan head. Aroma is weird sweet amaretto and apple, nutty praline, sweet. Flavour is composed of sweet nutty caramel malts then Sicky sharp apple and bile. Pretty bad, I was having a good evening until this beer. Palate is sweet, sugary, moderate carb, some staling. Lingering tart berry, caramel and apple. Fuck Bateman’s.
