Cask at the London & North Western, Brum. Dark mahogany with smooth beige top; great lacing. Roasted malt with a fruity light sour note in aroma. Taste has notes of roast, chocolate, plum, blackcurrant, light ash. Smooth, semi-dry. Best cask beer I've had in a long while. Very enjoyable.

Cask at Picture House, Stafford. Pours very dark reddish-brown with a small tan head and good lacing. The aroma is mainly roasted malts, with a slight sweetness and hints of cocoa. In the mouth roasted malts are to the fore again, along with ash, red wine gums and traces of cola. Later on some berry fruits come through and the finish is unexpectedly bitter. This is rather nice – a top notch porter.

First beer on a Wednesday afternoon pub crawl around Shrewsbury with myself, 7th February 2024. Hand-pulled half-pint in Montgomery's Towers (Spoons). Brown bodied with a dark red hue, on top a beige foam covering. Bit hoppy for a Mild in my opinion, some roasted malt action but it's hoppy! Wednesday is £1:99 a guest ale pint day in Montgomery's Tower, so my half cost 1 Pound, sadly they had no other beers of interest for me.

Cask @ The Brewery Tap, National Brewery Centre, Burton. Pours a deep ruby, pale tan head. Aroma is of a lightly fruity chocolate malt persuasion, a touch mild-like. Taste is light, smooth, gentle chocolate with soft underlying dark fruits. I figured it out as a porter at the time, especially given the strength and chocolate notes. But well, if it's a mild then its a mild.

Brown malty flavours joined by bread and caramel together with a dark fruity backdrop. Medium bodied. Good mild (Nottingham 20.02.2016).

Cask @ Shepherd’s Rest, Sowerby Bridge. Very dark with a creamy off-white head. It’s a crisp and mild tasting ale with some sweet malt in its nose and some very light chocolate malt in its taste. Has a lovely smooth texture.
