On tap. Pours black with full head. Aromas of piney roasted malts. Flavors of same with slick black coffee and resin. I couldn’t get much barrel...

Dark. Touch of haze. Thin head. Burnt, dark chocolate, earthy Pacific coffee, quite austere but then the flavours lack dynamism and complexity. Wanted to like it, but it’s a bit harsh.

On tap at St. Augustine’s during 1st 45 taps annual event with Alex and Josh. Pours a very dark reddish brown with a tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, some hoppy bitterness. Taste is pretty the same. Couldn’t find any evidence of bourbon barrel aging, just a good Black IPA.

Poured from the tap. Black with tan head. Lots of roast malt, coffee, chocolate. Bourbon doesn’t come through, but still very good. Mild alcohol. Medium-full body.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Black color with compact beige head. Very nice aroma, roasted malt, a bit cheesy. Good body strength, smooth mouthfeel; strong flavor of roasted malts, a bit coffeeish, dark chocolate; it’s rather dry; strong bitterness with plenty of hop resins. The bourbon barrel is not necessarily evident.
Aggressive, excellent.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is lightly smoky, with powdery chalky notes and dry cocoa. Flavour brings out harsh bourbon notes, light smokiness and some metallic notes. Some harsh hoppy notes finish. Not the greatest.
