From old tasting notes. Translucent black, brown color. Creamy beige head. Rich roasted malt aroma. Tasty roasted malt flavor hints at chocolate and coffee. Dryish hop finish.

Keg at the brewpub, 08/11/14. Light black topped with a decent tan swirl. Nose is lightly roasted malt, cocoa rub, faint spice, earthy, raisens. Taste comprises dark malts, toffee fudge, cocoa powder, brown bread, trace of liquorice, dark fruit rinds. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent flavoursome schwarz.

On tap at Widmer, pours an amber-tinged dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted nuts, some roast, and dry cocoa powder. Flavour is very pleasant, with notes of cocoa powder upfront, followed by a touch of roast. Smooth and drinkable with everything in balance. Nice stuff.

Dark brown, rich chocolatey, syrup, mild coffeeish character, full body and nicely balanced.
