500ml bottle from Hop Vault, Stourbridge, online. Pours dark brown/near black with small beige head, circular renetntion. Aroma is fairly sweet malts, light roastiness, coffee, berry fruit, cordial. Taste is sweet, light roast and ash, coffee, berries, cola, quite dry and bitter in the finish. Body is light to medium but smooth and moderate carbonation seems to work well here. I quite like it.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford (25/9/23). Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. There’s roast malts and liquorice in the aroma. In the mouth it has a creamy texture but is also blightly bitter and somewhat watery. Flavour has liquorice and aniseed plus hints of coffee grounds, leading to a bitter finish. This is quite decent.

Bottle at the JK Ldn Tasting. It pours dark mahoganny brown with a small beige head. The aroma is earthy, sweet, juicy fruits, toffee, sugary cola, coffee grounds and tobacco. The taste is rather bitter, earthy roast, charred wood, coffee grounds, ashy, some dark fruit, dirt and wood with a very dry, astringent finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Lacks a bit of finesse in my opinion. Pretty harsh and bitter on the taste.

Craft Islington Gathering. Thanks to Wingman. Hazy amber - brown beer, tidy cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, some bitterish toffee. Bitter floralness. A touch of malts sweetness provides some relief before it’s back to a bitter floral finish. Sharp bitter linger. Somewhat of a bitter bastard then.

Bottle shared at the JK Tasting - Craft Beer Co., Islington. Many thanks to Dave for this oddity. Pours brown with a frothy, tan head. The nose holds toasted brown bread and grains. Moderately sweet, with more grainy malts. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Quite basic but OK and drinkable.
