We’ve finalized a new Black Ale for Half Acre.

We can all sit on sun drenched patios and freely spill speed beer down our throats till paid transportation takes us home. You want to squirrel away a couple x-tra pales and head to yoga? No problem, Namaste.

But, there are times when fleshy black beer is the only thing that offers the necessary weight. Visiting your uncle’s machine shop to thread some pipe before hitting a dirt track sprint car race….? You might want to digest some Lead Feather Black Ale.

The might of big malts and rival hop use give Lead Feather capital dark properties. 6% ABV gives you time, but not at the expense of content.

Lead Feather Black Ale will live in the line up all year. You’ll find it on draft right now in our Tap Room and soon in bars around town. Come March, we’ll load it into our favorite 16 ounce aluminum vessel.

Find one and work it into your life.

Can sample at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Black with a big tan head. Aroma of roast, some stale hops, and a bit of oxidation. Sweetish flavor, roasty, with some coffee, a bit oxidized, and bitterish stale hops. Medium-bodied. Decent.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice, four centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, oatmeal, nuts, earth and a bit of piney hops - nice and pungent. Medium-bodied; Strong rich roasted malt flavours hit first with a good oatmeal and toast flavour coupled with some earthiness and a good bunch of pungent hops - almost borders the line of a Black IPA! Aftertaste shows some nice roast notes, a little lactose leftover and a superb hoppiness that shows good complexity throughout of the beer. Overall, a very nice beer - definitely one to try if you can find it, plus available in a tall can - nice! I sampled this sixteen ounce can purchased from Trader Joe’s in Chicago (Ontario Street), Illinois on 11-February-2016 for US$2,38 sampled at home in Washington on 05-May-2016.

Pint can from Secret Santa 2015, thank you. Dark brown pour with a lingering tan cap. The aroma is roasted malt and a little smoky. Heavy roast flavor, a little smoke and bittersweet chocolate. Malt forward. Finished with a hint of chalk.

Slight roast malt in the nose. Black beer under a puffy stoutish head. Taste is like a roasty stout, perhaps with a bit of extra hop, in the ’Murican fashion. Roastiness and hops kind of detract from the total package for me.
