Light in colour, bold in flavour. A great session beer with a floral aroma and a clean finish.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours clear golden, no head. Aromas are a little sweaty, some maltiness. Taste is thin, a bit watery, some astringency at the back, some herbal notes. Not quite the refreshing Golden ale I was after this sunny afternoon. I’m guessing filtered and force-carbonated. Probably better on cask.

Cask at the Ivy House. It pours clear golden with a small white head. The nose is fresh, doughy, lemon, orange peel and light sweetness. The taste is clean, crisp, bread, straw, citrus and apple-like sweetness with a dry, lightly bitter finish. Light-medium body and soft carbonation. Clean, citrussy and pretty straight-forward. Not a whole lot of depth, but easy drinking.

Gravity cask at the Wandsworth Common London Beer Festival July 2013 - Le Gothique. Pours clear yellow-gold with a foamy, pure white head. Nose of dry straw, doughy pale malts and lemon rind. Light sweet flavor with tangy lemon, glue, hay. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Bitter hay finish with astringent grains. Not great. I’m guessing this was a one-off issue as previous raters seemed to not get the off-notes I detected.
