Bernsteinfarben. Geruch malzig, leicht rauchig. Auch geschmacklich ist als erstes eine schöne Malznote erkennbar. Der Rauch kommt eine Millisekunde später, drängt sich aber nicht in den Vordergrund und ergänzt dann nur das Geschmacksspektrum. Florale Noten, Spuren von unreifen Früchten sind erkennbar. Die Süße des Biers hat einen gleichberechtigten schön bitteren Gegenpol. Der Hopfen ist klar vorhanden und wird durch die röstig/rauchig/bitteren Noten des Malzes verstärkt. Sehr süffig für ein dunkles Rauchbier, hat auch „nur“ 5,0 % Alk. Macht Spaß, allerdings ist dieser durchaus nicht ungetrübt. Könnte eines der besten und süffigsten Rauchbiere sein, dass ich bisher hatte. Allerdings hat das Bier einen Unterton den man, wenn er noch ausgeprägter wäre, als „gallig“ bezeichnen könnte. Das ganze geht klar einher mit der zuvor erwähnten Nuance von unreifen Früchten

Article 17 tap: pours light brownish with whitish head. Aroma is lightly meaty and smoked. Taste is not super smokey overall, but pleasantly so. Lightly sweet.

Bottle, 500 ml at Valhalla, Zagreb. Dark oramge with medium firm white head. Malty, caramel, light smoke, tad bitter. Smooth texture. Not bad actually.

Dark brown colour, white foam. Nose of smoked ham, sweet malts, some light roastiness. Light smoky taste, light sweet.

Bottle from Hausmann Getränke. Nice Plopp, dark brown with s majestic fine head. Lightly malty smoky nose. The flavor is a very smooth combination of caramel malt (think Dunkles) and slight smoke that hits mid to late palate. Just a bit of earthy hop bitterness to round it out. Great Rauch!

Amber with a frothy to creamy white head. Aroma is a mild dose of woodsmoke over toffee and mixed grains. Taste is mildly bitter the whole way though, finishing with roasted graininess and oily caramel, the last of which lingers. Body to the light side of medium, moderate to mild carbonation, mixed watery and oily texture. Not a top of the line Rauchbier but still pleasant. Might be a good introduction beer for someone new to the style.

Bottle from the Inn at Home online store. Honey coloured pour with a white head. Nose is toffee, smoke, orchard fruit, cinnamon. Taste is caramel, toffee apple, light smoke. Pleasant enough brew but lacking in tbe smoke department.

Leicht eingetrübt bernsteinfarben mit weißer Schaumkrone. Malziger, rauchiger Geruch. Geschmacklich malzig, rauchig mit Schinken & Speck, Anklänge an Karamell. Mittlere Süße mit leichter Bitterkeit, mittlerer Körper mit spürbarer Kohlensäure.
