Bottle 0.5l at home, Oulu. Originally rated 30102011. Colour is dak brown with small head. Aromas and flavours: Smoke, sweetness and roasted malts.

50cl swing top bottle where the label seems to challenge you to find the name of the beer and the name of the brewer. It pours up with a clear amber body that supports an off white head of foam that leaves behind spotty lacing. The modest aroma offers up malts, some caramel malts and then a light hit of molasses sweetened soft smokiness. The taste begins with a nice bite of malty sweet smokiness that is light on the bacon but offers enough smoke to cover the flavor from front to back. To midway it picks up caramel and molasses and then a slight drying malt sweetened light roasted maltiness. It ends pretty even with a bit of dryness and a modest after taste sensation. Nice smooth approachable Smoked beer. Could be smokier for my taste but good nonetheless.

500ml Flasche. Ins Glas ergießt sich ein rötlich-braunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch angenehm rauchig, malzig, Karamell. Geschmack leicht rauchig, röstmalzig, würzig.

Gewinner des European Beer Stars 2007 – bei solchen Auszeichnungen bin ich immer sehr skeptisch. Mal schauen, was mich hier erwartet! Die Farbe ist schön rötlich-braun, der Schaum ganz leicht beige. Der Geruch steigt ganz leicht rauhig aus dem Glas hervor. Nicht zu überbetont, aber durchaus wahrnehmbar. Hinzu kommt eine leichte frische Säuerlichkeit. Der Antrunk ist etwas flach, hinzu kommt eine ganz leichte Rauchnote. Der Hauptteil ist wie bei einem schönen Dunklen, malzaromatisch, ganz leicht herb und sehr mild-rauchig. Der Rauchige Ton bleibt die ganze Zeit über sehr im Hintergrund. Zum Nachgeschmack bleibt das vorherige Geschmacksniveau erhalten – eine sehr moderate Rauchigkeit zusammen mit einer frischen Malzigkeit des Dunklen und einer ganz leichten, angenehmen Herbe. Auf der Zunge bleibt außer einer ganz leichten Rauchnote nach wenigen Sekunden aber nicht viel erhalten.
--> Für meinen Geschmack viel zu mild und „raucharm“. Für Rauchbierneulinge bestimmt lecker, aber ich hatte mir ein kräftigeres, rauchbetonteres Dunkel erhofft, welches auch ruhig noch etwas malbetonteren Charakter zeigen könnte!

Bouteille 50cl de Hopfen & Malz partagée avec Tomaz. BB 10/01/2014. Couleur acajou, col blanc cassé léger. Arôme est malté, caramel, fruité rouge modéré, pointe de malt fumé. Palais est malté, léger côté caramel très allemand dans l’approche, fumé modéré qui arrive plus en retrait et se débat un peu avec un houblonné laissant paraitre des notes houblonnées amer. Malt fumé, crystal? et cara léger. Pointe de fruité rouge presque noir et encore une fois, je n’accroche pas trop à ce côté caramel-toffee très allemand.

0.5l bottle. Dark amber body, creamy beige head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits and smoke. Taste of caramel, dark fruits, toast and smoke. The aftertaste has some floral hoppyness to it. It’s basically a very nice dunkel with a hint of smoke. Very nice.

0.5L swing top bottle, reddish/brown beer with a small white head, aroma is light/medium smoke, taste is smokey/bitter and overall not very enjoyable, Rauchbier isn’t a beer for me so it seems.

Bottle. Clear amber with a thin head. Aroma is smoked caramel. Flavour is sweet smoke, ask with a burnt smoke palate

Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is dark amber. Aroma and taste are rich smoke, bacon, sausage, malt and hops. Yummy.
