Bottle shared at CBJ - picked up from Pigs Ear BF 2023. Cheers! Pours clear brown with a small, foamy off-white head. Light sweet flavour, earthy, with some leathery and faintly tangy berries, faint funk. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with modest roasty malts, earth, berries and cobwebs. Good fun overall, nice amount of depth and drinkability.

CBJ Tasting. Bottle thanks to LKS. Near opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Airy palate, a little dry, not much carbonation. Slightly watery dark malts. Cardboard dark chocolate, not terrible for it's age. Modest ripe fruits. Fine.

Cask at the The Three Stags Head, Wardlow Mires, 17/09/20. Light black with a sexy tan head. Nose is dark malts, liquorice stick, toffee, dried fruits. Taste comprises treacle toffee, fruit rinds, hint of molasses, lighter liquorice load than the nose suggested, trace of dark chocolate. Medium plus bodied, soft carbonation, lick of booze at the curtain call. Solid stuff.

Gravity serve from a Bourbon whisky cask, at the Devonshire Cat, Sheffield. 7%. Never seen this beer outside of the Three Stags Heads, Wardlow Mires, before. Clear, very dark, chestnut brown. Bubbly halo of tan head. Dark, dried fruit. Licorice. Bonfire toffee. Hint of roasted malt. The wooden cask comes through quite noticeably. Taste is fruity dry. Quite ashy, really. Palate is fairly light. Soft carbonation. Finish is long, fruity dry. Just a hint of bitterness. Really drinkable. A bit of an oddity, mind you.

On cask at Three Stags Heads, Wardlow Mires - Nearly the same as Black Mass, but looks much better (perhaps looked after a little bit better). Thick black body with a thick lacing beige head. Liquorice and coffee in the nose, with an rich oily mouthfeel, and a rich bitter fruity finish. This is worth seeking out in my opinion, so set your SatNavs to SK17 8RW!!!!!
