Reaper is a Red IPA, rich deep ruby hued monster with an array of big, full flavoured hops like Centennial, Simcoe, Summit, complemented with Amarillo & Dana varieties.
This bruising IPA has big malty, sweet backbone which the hops play against with style. If you like IPA’s with big hop flavour & malty sweetness then Reaper is one for you. Don’t fear the Reaper!

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a cloudy amber with a very lively, frothy off-white head leaving some lacework. A very tropical hop aroma, a little greasy though. Medium body, caramellish, a little mildewy, overripe fruit and a solid dose of bitter hops. Not exactly crisp but still enjoyable. 150812

Bottle from Summer Wine Brewery Online Store. It pours hazy amber, with a decent yellow-white head. The nose is watermelon, papaya, berry, olive oil and gruyere cheese. The taste is pine, grass, resin, blood orange, tangerine, papaya, metal, with a massive bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. The bitterness is quite aggressive indeed! As usual this is a flavoursome beer from SW, but not their most drinkable.

Craft. Hazy amber beer, tidy white head. Crisp palate, semi dry. Minerally malt cream gives way to fresh ping and yellow grapefruit hops, fairly bitter. Orange marmalade and bitter pine brings up the rear. Crisp semi dry finish, good bitter linger. Moorish! 36

Good creamy malt base, trace of caramel. Complex bitter hops - bitter orange marmalade but with sweet orange entwined! Trace of sweet pineapple and bitter pine. Smooth soft finish. Good bitter linger. Very nice red IPA.

Keg at CBC, London. Pours a lightly cloudy ruby with a strong, white foam head. Nose of pine, berries and grass. Sweet, toasty malts kick things right off in the flavor, with notes of caramel and berries, then there’s moderate piney bitterness with lighter grass, earth and ripe citrus. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sticky finish with plenty of juicy, ripe citrus hops and toasted sugar, along with chewy pine and light caramel. Very solid beer.

Draught @ Craft Beer Co.

Pours reddish orange with a smooth foamy head. Fresh aroma of fruits and berries with notes of caramel, lemon and citrus. Taste is quite fruity with hops and a lot of berries. Hints of malts and lemon as well. Finish is fruity with some bitterness and lemony notes. Nice, surprisingly fruity IPA.

Keg and the PSBH 12th April 2012. Nice looking brew, palate is fine, taste is some what on the sweet side for the good bitterness I like and expect from the Summer Wine beers

Amber, hazy, dense bubbly head dissipates to thin layer
Aroma of strong grassy, citrus, grapefruit hops...sweet juicy golden malts..more grapefruit than in the taste
Taste of strong, stingy grassy resinous hops...background of grapefruit zest..rich golden pale caramel malt background..pretty assertive
Palate - medium carb, medium body. Strong tangy zesty bitterness. Finish as main flavour, lingering concentrated orange bitter zest, bit over astringent. linger bit over long.
Overall - Very good beer perhaps a tad too aggressive in the finish
