Our classic saison, back for a new year with lots of hop character, assertive bitterness and a classic clean saison yeast profile. This batch has UK Goldings and Strisselspalt hops.

Can thanks to Cloin. Pours a hazy gold with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is wet biscuit, bready malt. Slick body, biscuit, earth, light dry finish, good.

Can at home, from HOTM online, 19/04/22. Very lightly hazed golden orange with a decent just off white head. Nose is yeast esters, apricot, grass, ripe melon, hint of candied fruit rinds. Taste comprises citric tinged straw, peach, Belgian yeast esters, herb, grass, caramel trace, light white peppery spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid well balanced saison.

Can picked at the brewery. Clear deep gold. White head doesn’t retain too well. Nose has spicy grain. Leafy hop. Some flora. Taste is pretty sweet and malty, with moderate leafy hop bitterness. Medium body with fine brisk carbonation. Finish is a little sweet and a tad heavy. My least favourite version of Jack by a considerable way.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from HOTM. Pours clear, deep burnished gold, with a creamy, white head. Light to medium sweet with restrained Belgian yeast, nips of melon, tangerine peel, grass, sun-kissed wheat flakes, pale grains. Medium bodied with delicate, massaging carbonation. Subtly warming finish, some biscuits, meringue, citrus accents, yeast, bread. Lovely.

On tap at Ebenezers, Nantwich. Pours a cloudy golden amber with a small off-white head. There’s a mix of tangerine and marmalade in the aroma with a hint of banana too. In the mouth, there is an instant punch of sweet creamy yeast sensation, plus oranges, mango and fruity hops. Finish is quite sweet as well. This is said to be an Americana saison. I don’t know what that means, but it’s excellent !
