Cask at Smithfield, Derby (Tom Said trailer bar). As “War Russell” – 10% whiskey barrel aged. Hope I’ve got the right one ! Pours a very dark reddish brown with minimal off-white head. The aroma is malts mixed with oak and alcohol. In the mouth it is slightly sweet and syrupy with flavours of whiskey, oak and alcohol plus hints of treacle and parkin. Finish is decidedly booxy. This is gorgeous !

Bottle split at the optimal climatic conditions tasting, Hazlemere, thanks to Kenny 11/08/21. Murky amber orange with a light beige cap. Nose is fruit cake, spice, nutty, mellow barrel, light medicinal nip. Taste comprises fruit cake, pinch of spice, light campfire, boozey tones, stewed fruits, toffee, tobacco. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a mellow Spey whisper. Decent ... good balance and not full on medicinals.

Bottle shared in HW - cheers to Kenny. Pours mostly clear brown-gold with a mild bubbly off-white head. Meaty malts, a little smoke, big toffee, ripe berries. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish, hearty semi-dark malts, some booze, rich toasted caramel. Not bad.

11th August 2021 Tasting at Chez Cloin. Thanks to me. Speyside barrel. 2019.1. 10%. Very hazy dark amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, soft, fairly dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Soft dry malts, a little dry creamy malts. Fruity whiskey. A little vanilla barrel. Some mild spice into ripe fruits with a whiskey tang. Fairly dry finish. Tasty but quite dry.
