In May 2017 we produced two extra strong worts using barley, oat and rye malts. These underwent primary fermentation in our coolship, before maturing in one white and one red Bordeaux barrel. This second release is the single red barrel. It spent 23 months in barrel and a further 7 months conditioning in bottle before release

Bottle. Beer Ritz, Leeds. Picked up by Dan. Cheers pal. Pale amber. Soft haze. Thin, dense, lasting, leggy, soapy white head. Nose has a load of sweaty brett. Red wine lees. Some sweet lemon. Touch of clove, maybe. Hint of aniseed. The barrel is dominant here. Almost port like really. Taste is sweet and sour. Hint of old oak bitterness. Medium body. Drinks well under the 11%. Fine, brisk carbonation. Touch of acidity. Tart and sour and sweet on the finish. Just give me Mills, Burning Sky, and Kernel for ever, and that’d do me fine.
