After brewing Kibitz with Beatnikz Republic last year, we hosted our friends from over the Pennines for the return leg of the collaboration.

This time we've brewed a big double IPA using ESB yeast with stacks of Ekuanot and Mosaic cryo hops to give an explosion of grapefruit and mango aroma and flavour, combined with a low bitterness.

Can. Hazy orange beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is light and mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Light malts manage to bring a decent creamy sweetness. Light crisp savoury skunk. Piney citrus, mostly peel. Crisp piney finish. Should please the dank ranks but also a pleasing amount of brighter citrus. Crispy finish. Yeah, nothing extraordinary but a crisp and drinkable generic hop presenting beer that goes dahn easy. Innit bruv?

Keg @ Beatnikz Republic Bar, Manchester. Has a strength-infused fruity hoppiness with underlaying caramels eventually coming to the fore. Hazy amber with a small head.

Keg at the beatnik Republic taproom. A hazed Depp orange coloured pour with a a fine off white head. Aroma is dank, plastic, sticky hop, big grass. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, sweaty piney hop, wheat, grassy citrus, grass. Little toffee. Palate is semi sweet. Sticky. Moderate carbonation. Ok.

Can. Turner’s, Sheffield. Medium haze on a medium gold. Fine, messy, lacing, viscous, white head. Nose errs toward the dank and sticky. Nose has sappy pine, and rich, ripe, mouldy citrus. Touch of mint and oily herb. Some sweaty, bready yeast. Taste has a ripe citrus sweetness, but really it’s a bitter bomb. Rich and fairly smooth on the palate. A bit sticky. Fine carbonation. Lingering bitterness to finish. Decent gear.
