750ml bottle split at Brewdog Bristol. Pours opaque dark brown with a few loose bubbles of head. Aroma: caramel, toffee, fruit cake, berries. Taste: moderate sweet & light bitter, earthy, molasses, brown sugar, caramel, toffee, light sharp dark berry fruits. Medium body, soft carb, semi dry finish. Doesn't taste 16%+. An interesting take on a barleywine, one sourced for the stash to see how it develops

Bottle split at L6, thanks to Leighton, 22/08/19. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a light beige cap. Nose is dusty fruits, jammy berry quiver, fruit cake, toffee. Taste comprises earthy berry fruits, brown sugar, light acidic tickle, umami, tangy berries. Medium bodied plus, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a kiss of booze and modest acidity. Interesting offering … drinks well below the ABV but equally fails to deliver on the expected complexity associated with a high double digit number … Ok sipper none the less.

Bottle shared in London - picked up via Premier Hop. Pours clear reddish brown with a small, fizzy tan head. Very interesting stuff, certain quite rich, lots of tangy, well ripened berries, some background toasted wood, prunes, mild acetic bite, alcohol, nips of caramel. Full bodied, lightly oily, with mellow carbonation. Warming finish, lots more tangy berry character, a little red wine, old wood, soft funk. A little earthy bitterness in the aftertaste. Numerous elements to enjoy. And for the strength, it is pretty drinkable

22nd August 2019 Level 6 Bottleshare. Big thanks to LKS for this beast. Opaque dark brown beer, a few pale tan bubbles. Smooth palate, light fine carbonation. Smooth tangy dark malts. Tangy dark chocolate, tangy fruits. Okay, tangy then! Belies the abv, big time but feels like an Impy as much as it does a barleywine.
