Keg at the Merchant, Canary Wharf, 31/07/19. Light black with a decent tan head. Nose is chocolate, coffee bean, charr, mellow spice. Taste comprises mellow roast, dusty fruits, coffee grinds, cocoa sprinkle. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Decent.

The Merchant. Keg. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Mellow dark malts, mild dark malt cream. Smooth and mild well integrated coffee, mildly fruity. Light finish. Quaffable but nothing out the ordinary.

Gravity cask at the 2019 Leicester Beer Festival. Very dark brown with notable visible carbonation and a small ring of off-white head. Smells of single estate black coffe, some chocolate and maybe a little bit of raspberry. Tastes sweet with an earthy hop bitterness in the finish; stone fruit and bitter chocolate in the aftertaste. And more coffee, of course.
