2016 catch up - Bottle from the brewery - Blurgh! A aorrible stout. Too thick and a nasty mouth feel and some really unpleasant flavours. Most of it was poured away.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with average, thick, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, brown head. Annoying dark malty aroma, notes of burnt oates, burnt caramel, tar, thinner, a touch of honey in the background. Taste is bitter, dark malty, salty notes of soy sauce, burnt caramel, tart-ish hints of brine, dill. Probably the recipe goes back to a formula Peter the Great learned to use for pitch production while stuydying shipbuilding. Horrible beer.

Bottle split at the Beers of London/Christmas tasting at Leighton’s pad, 10/12/14. Black with moderate tan edgeing. Nose is big roast, tar, liqourice, dark toffee, cocoa powder, raw and awkward. Taste is worse, varnish, paint stripper, glue, dark malt, wood, charr. Medium + body, flat and lifeless, drying close with a light booze streak. This is a shower of shite but probably keeping its head above the rhubarb mistake and the Dark Horse acid bath !

Tasting at Leighton’s Flat. Opaque black - brown beer, few dark tan bubbles not being a head. Nose has emulsion paint and dark malts! Palate is completely carbonation free. Chocolate dark malts. Emulsion paint reminds of the weird nose. Touch of balsamic vinegar. Light finish. Undrinkable. Can’t remember the last time I had such a bad Imperial Stout. Much work to be done here chaps!
