Our 26th anniversary Imperial Porter was aged in bourbon barrels and dry spiced with Theo's cocoa nibs, revealing hints of vanilla and chocolate. Pomegranate molasses and cranberries complement the robust flavour with a hint of fruit and just enough tart to make you smile.

Bottle at Pre-Borefts. Very dark brown with beige head. Licorice, ash, lots of toffee, there some sweet vanilla bourbon but it’s mostly sweet malts, marzipan. There’s some fruit but more in the background. Over medium sweet and medium bitter. Over medium bodied with slick feel.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Alon. Black with a tan head. Aroma of roast, a bit of charcoal, vanilla, dark fruits, cocoa, chocolate. Sweet and slightly tart flavor with roast, chocolate, berries, a bit of bourbon, a bit of pomegranate, vanilla, and a bit of bitterness in the finish. Full-bodied. Great.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a huge creamy brown head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was fig, raisin, cola, cherry, toasty malts, read dough, marzipan, red meat and bacon. The flavor was red meat, red wine, toasty malts, bacon, cherry, fig and chocolate. Long finish. Full bodied and smooth. Solid but I was hoping for better.

650 ml bottle with a best after date of 6/14/2015. Color is deep dark brown, very thin head around the snifter. Aroma right from the pop of the cap is dark fruits with roasted malt and mellow bourbon tones.

The flavor shows a bold amount of pomegranate and very mild cranberry that gives a deep dark fruit nuance that melds with the roasted malt. It really reminds of a barrel aged barley wine. As far as the bourbon treatment, well... It is pretty tame. A tad more bourbon would balance all the fruit. Body is medium with a soft carbonation level. Slick texture over the tongue. Overall this still is a very finely made brew, as long as you enjoy pomegranate.

Thanks to David for this one, bought at Lee’s Discount Liquor in Vegas. Pours a dark brown colour with a decent mocha head for such a high ABV and lacing. Aromas seem tarty with some roasted malts and lots of fruits (cherries, plums, dates) and hints of nuts. The taste has a lot of the same fruits, going from the dark fruits to the cherries and pomegranate. Molasses and smooth roasted malts. Grass in the finish. Quite a nice Imperial Porter with a lots of added stuff to it, but blended into it so not a crazy curve. Very rich overall though.

Black color with generous tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, with a hint of chili peppers and some fruity acidity. Good body structure, the mouthfeel is lean, not thick, combination of just moderate bitterness with high alcohol content; nice flavor of roasted malts and dark chocolate, in balance, correct bitterness, a bit spicy, with light note of tobacco and vanilla, and mild sourness from the fruits.
Graceful blend of elements, very good beer.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, best after 6/13/2015. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big chocolate, cocoa, molasses, cranberry, raisin, pomegranate, plum, cherry, fig, licorice, leather, tobacco, vanilla, oak, light bourbon/smoke, and oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, dark fruit, and light-moderate bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big chocolate, cocoa, molasses, cranberry, raisin, pomegranate, plum, cherry, fig, licorice, leather, tobacco, vanilla, oak, light bourbon/smoke, and oak/toasted earthiness. Light roasted bitterness, oak spiciness, and slight fruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, molasses, cranberry, raisin, pomegranate, plum, cherry, fig, licorice, leather, tobacco, vanilla, and oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, dark fruit, and light-moderate bourbon barrel flavors; with a great malt/barrel/fruit balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and lightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warmth present after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic barrel aged blended imperial porter style. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, dark fruits, and light-moderate bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. This has a lot of old ale qualities to it, balanced with moderate porter flavors. A highly enjoyable offering.
