An Imperial Stout is never late, nor is it early, it arrives precisely when it means to. Smashing back pints of this barrel aged imperial stout will officially have you labelled a disturber of the peace. This years edition has been aged for one year in Buffalo Trace Mash #1 barrels that have previously housed bourbons such as EH Taylor and Eagle Rare.

473mL can, pours jet black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out lots of bourbon barrels, moderate roasted malt, and some dark sugars. Flavour is rich, with intense burnt sugars, bourbon barrels, moderate-to-heavy roast, and burnt caramel. Roasty and barrel-heavy. Excellent.

Dark brown, just a thin head. Sweet and sticky, nice barrel notes, smooth dark sugars. Big barrel and alcohol in the finish.

Poured from the tap. Black with small tan head. Molasses, bourbon, touch of chocolate and vanilla. I think it’s a tad better base beer than last year, but would prefer last year’s Heaven Hill barrels. Ultimately, an equal rating for me (second try of last years after the booziness settled). Worth buying for trades.

Dark brown colour, near black, small brownish head. Aroma of dark chocolate, light vanilla, not very intense. Smooth, full bodied; dark chocolate flavour, burnt sugar, dark caramel, a touch of vanilla and cinnamon, a hint of smoke. Very warming alcohol, but I wouldn't qualify like boozy. It's balanced.
Excellent.

473 ml can. Pours black with moderate tan head. Aromas of boozy bourbon, woody chocolate, vanilla, and slick roasted malts. Rich flavors of chocolate/fudge, vanilla, bourbon, and oily roasted malts. Boozy finish and some gunk at the end of the pour that shouldn't be there though, so rating may be on the high side...

16oz @ Alex's. Appearance: dark brown with a dark beige head. Aroma: quite barrel forward, molasses, some grassy notes, a bit of chocolate and vanilla, a bit of inky and caramel notes. Taste: along the same lines, moderately sweet and thick, leather notes. Overall: it's pretty good, but not that something I would stock up on.
