Native Refermentation of Grapes from Weathereye Vineyard
Red Mountain
This 2022 harvest beer was made through a native fermentation of white Rhone varietals grown on the top of Red Mountain.
Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Marsanne, and Clairette grapes were fermented on their skins and blended with aged saison made with spelt, wheat, oats, and barley.
Made with the assistance of our friend Travis Allen of Kobayashi and generously facilitated with aid from Chris + crew at Avennia. Grown at Weathereye Vineyards by Ryan Johnson + crew.
This beer was refermented to condition in the bottle with local raw Star Thistle honey.

Bottle by way of a trade. Hazed pale gold. Slim ring of white. Big white grape dessert wine vibes. Clean cut oak. Taste is sweet first off with juicy vinous tartness. Nice oaky bitterness. Lovely full mouthfeel stays easy drinking. Fine carbonation. Touch of warmth. Juicy white wine vinous oaky finish. Very fine.

Mooch tasting, courtesy of the gang
Hazy golden colour, the grapes make it a bit dull. Aroma and flavour have some jammy qualties; strong character from the fermentation, with low acidity, and bold buggy presence; bold vinous character, fresh oak, soft astringency; almost creamy in the finish. Very good.
That's a lot of grapes! But they come through fantastically. I feel like at this point it's almost more wine than Saison but still plenty of delicious Saison notes. Hints of tannins on the finish. Whole shebang packing flavor thanks Andy K. !

Cloudy, pale. The head dies out fairly quickly. Vinous aroma, nice grapey character. This has a bit of alcohol up front, a clean pale malt base, medium vinous character. The fruit is softer than a lot of Floodlands. The base is gorgeous as always. I'd say that extra kick of alcohol does muddle the palate a bit. But it's still pretty good.

Poured from 750mL bottle. Hazy yellow gold with small white head. Soft wheaty spelt underlay with mild white grape notes and some buckwheat like honey.

750mL bottle, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma is full of wild bugs, oak, and rustic notes. Flavour is nicely buggy, with plenty of wild yeast, rustic saison notes, and oak. Nice blend, with deep yeast character. Excellent.
