A sharp, full flavoured pale bitter. Bucket fulls of American hops, give it that lemony edge.

Handpull cask at the Duke's Arms, Woodford near Thrapston Northants. Lighter side of gold and clear with a small white head. Lemony aroma, hay and weeds, toast. More of an English golde than and ESB maybe? Bittersweet taste, lemon rind and maybe a touch of white pepper. Bitterness in the finish is fairly full on. Light to medium body and soft carbonation. Not a great beer but being in near perfect condition probably helps.

Cask at Dragon Inn, Worcester. Pours golden yellow with a small frothy almost white head and good lacing. There’s citrus, kiwi and lemongrass in the aroma. In the mouth it is strongly bitter, but with a little underlying sweetness too. The first flavour to hit is gooseberries followed by grassy hops and hints of citrus which increase rapidly. Some tropical fruits come through later leading to a dry finish. This is reasonable but too much citrus for my taste. Also, I would call it an IPA rather than any sort of bitter.

Bottle from Warwick Real Ale. Appearance - golden amber with a slightly off-white fluffy head. Nose - lemon, grassiness and soft malt note. A hint of caramel. Taste - a hint of orange but mainly soft malt, with caramel edging in. Palate - light bodied, malt sweetness and just a little hop bitterness. Overall - would have liked it to be a little cleaner on the finish, but not bad.
