Can from Asda. Clear deep golden body with an off-white head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of wood, earth, berries and fruit cake. Flavour of earthy spice and brown bread. Thin to medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. This is an excellent example of the style, at a very good price.

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Copper-amber with a small creamy head. Has a sweetened malt-hop character, but not too bitter despite being part of the beer’s name.
