10,000 Steps profiles a complex convergence of multiple stouts aged in bourbon barrels, blended with a bourbon barrel-aged barleywine brewed with maple syrup. The accompanying vanilla varietals (Ugandan, Tahitian, & Ecuadorian) demonstrate a prudent approach to character amplification. Unique Markers Mark finishing staves spent a month in this blend, adding complex notes of mocha-caramel and baking spice. This blend exhibits rich notes of chocolate cake topped with bourbon vanilla maple cream.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle. Aroma is malt forward with a solid amount of toffee, layers of caramel, chocolate, maple and lighter notes of toasted bread, treacle and roast notes. Medium light alcohol notes with lighter oak and bourbon notes. Pours black with dark brown hues and and a small, dark mocha head that recedes quickly to a small film that lingers on the edges. Light lacing and long legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with lots of toffee, layers of caramel, milk chocolate and lighter notes of maple, toasted bread, treacle, roast and burnt sugar. Moderate bitterness and medium alcohol notes. Light notes of bourbon with hints of oak. Mouthfeel is full bodied with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and medium alcohol warmth. Overall, a really solid beer. Nice maple notes that are a bit lighter in the flavor with great malt profiles. Barrel notes are nice and alcohol is well balanced.
