We set out to brew a complex, tasty monster of a stout that perfectly captures our no-boundaries approach. Wrecking Ball swings heavy with five types of dark-roasted malt for delicious coffee, chocolate and brown sugar notes. Two large hop additions bring that substantial maltiness back in check, delivering a big, beautifully balanced beast of a beer.

Bottle, what Brian thinks to be a 2014 bottle, shared 10/15/16.
Dark mahogany with deep violet tints and a good clarity. Tan head atop is medium-sized and shows moderately strong retention.
Deep, dark, vinous notes emerge slowly. Strong baker’s chocolate, prunes, plums, currants and a hint of charred grain. Very dark fruit-heavy Impy, which is fine with me. Alcohol is controlled in the nose and it seems to be very obviously well-attenuated. Almost salty, though it’s not smokey, with black licorice, light vanilla and more dark fruits peppering the finish.
Long, drawn out dark fruits lend a bitter character to the beer, as low but fairly engaging carbonation and a silky-to-oily texture concentrate the rich acidity and dark chocolate notes. Some light caramel sweetness helps balance, but this thing is very vinous and dry. You don’t taste the alcohol but it’s there, as this thing defintiely creeps up on you. Pepper, currants, char and bitter, dark chocolate linger on the long finish. This is some serious stuff. Very nice sipper.

22 oz bottle thanks to Willrunforbeer. Guessing this is a 2014 vintage with no bottle date coding. Sat in Brian seller at least a year and a half. Pitch black color, lasting off white head. Aroma is lots of raisin, dates, sugarcoated plums. Very weak roast.

Flavor is dark for a dominant, again raisins and date heavy with a bitter chocolate finish. ABV is pretty hidden, body is a little thin. But pretty good.

Dark brown color. Light brown head. Coffee roasted malts and dark chocolate in the nose. Medium body, a bit more carbonated than I would have preferred. Medium body with some dark fruit but overall just kinda ok.

Beer #7 of 13 in blind tasting.
This to me was the most boring and average in the tasting. I actually guessed this correctly, the only one I was correct on. Bitter malt present. Not particularly "rich" or hoppy or anything.
In the aggregate it fell 2nd to worst, moderately-strongly below average.
