The Cracker Cowboys of Florida were colonial-era settlers, often of Scots-Irish descent, who arrived in Florida when Spain traded their territory of La Florida to the English. The term Cracker in Florida usage relates to the whip these “cow hunters” used to herd cattle in Florida’s Palmetto Prairies. Called Quaqueros by the Spanish, these hardy and hard working Cracker Cowboys helped to shape the history of Florida, the nation’s oldest cattle raising state. We brew Florida Cracker White Ale with unmalted wheat, orange peel and coriander and then ferment it with a Belgianyeast strain to give it a spicy and dry finish. Perfect for a warm day on the Palmetto Prairie.

A fairly straightforward but decent enough wheat beer. Banana, a little citrus, some hops. Not special but nice.

Can bought from Brewklopedia, Leicester and drunk at home. Light golden, clear with a medium-sized white head and some visible carbonation. The smell of ground coriander dominates the aroma with light medicinal notes. Sweet taste with light bready yeast slowly turns to a hoppy bittersweet flavour. Gentle astringency on the finish. Very light body with medium to heavy carbonation. A decent witbier if not particularly memorable.

[12oz can from Total Wines, Naples, FL.] A slightly hazy straw coloured pour with a loose white head; aroma of grain and coriander; light grainy body with coriander and orange peel flavours; and a dry finish. A straightforward Belgian White.

On tap at Cigar City, pours a cloudy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out notes of coriander and a touch of orange peel. Flavour brings out lots of coriander upfront, with a touch of orange peel and citrus. Clean and easy to drink, but not particularly interesting.

12oz can. Rather deliciously well executed merger of Saison and Wit. I'll go 75% Wit, really maintains most of the wheaty vanilla sensibility. One of the better Wit beers I have had in some time, though with a modern twist. Excellent execution, great beer.

12 ounce can. Pale gold color. Rocky white head with draping lace. Fragrant wheat malt nose hints at yeast and lemon peel. Light citrusy malt flavor upfront. Notes of coriander and orange. Lightly flavored and drinkable.

Can. Pretty clear orange with dense white head. 3+ Aroma of crackery dough, white pepper, coriander. Softer than expected, almost a creamy texture. Dough and some citrus, a fair bit of coriander. No particular bitterness. No wheaty/ funky twang that some Wits have. Pleasant enough.
